Leah Jantzen, Jeanette Chasworth join Susan Rich Talks
How can you connect with your man through sports? What’s the best way to add color to your home?
That’s what we talked about on Susan Rich Talks…Love & Lifestyle.
Leah Jantzen is a life coach, mother of 3 (with another on the way) – and passionate about sports. Her husband is, too, making theirs a happy union. But all too often, Leah’s friends and clients complain about how their guy is always parked in front of the TV, watching yet another football, basketball, or baseball game.
And Leah realized: Connecting with your man through sports is a great way to build a solid romance, but most women don’t know how to begin. So she just launched a new business where she counsels women — and men — in the fine art of watching sports, together.
First, pick a sport. You don’t have to follow all of them, she says. If your husband prefers football, then get ready to learn some grid action. If he likes all televised sports, pick the one you’re most interested in. Next, ask for help. Plan to watch a game together where he can explain the rules and what to watch for. Now, make it fun — for you. Instead of snugging down in a dirty sweatshirt and munching Doritos, see if he’s willing to nosh on cheese and crackers, wine instead of beer. Make game night a date night, and you’ll be on your way to building a bond, not a wall, between you and your guy.
There’s more to the idea than what I’ve just described, so be sure to check in with Leah Jantzen and learn more.
Does your home hug you?
Next up was Jeanette Chasworth, author of What’s color got to do with it? An interior designer, Jeanette consults with clients anywhere from Pasadena to Philadelphia, helping them colorize or accessorize their homes. Jeanette wrote her book because her clients kept asking her, “How do you choose colors?” and she wanted to share some tips they can try out on their own.
“Color stumps most people,” she explains. “That’s why I wrote the book.”
Our homes are our sanctuaries, and Jeanette talked about colors and design choices that make us feel “hugged” when we’re inside. If you find you spend little time at home, there might be a reason, she says, and you should explore ways to create a living space that welcomes and soothes.
It’s oft-repeated and true: Paint is the easiest, least-expensive change you can make. Yet the wide range of colors intimidates many, and they settle for white or beige when inside they’re really hungering for orange, purple, green.
“Painting the wall is the easiest way to transform your house, even the furniture will take on a whole new look,” she says.
What if you’re living in a small apartment and want to do more than paint the four walls? Draperies and window coverings, throw pillows, scatter rugs, are all ways to inexpensively personalize a temporary space, she says.
